The proposal sets out a framework for housing more affordable than the Pune market offers, socially robust and environmentally sound, and close enough to the centre to cut long commutes and dependence on non-renewable energy.
It combines transit-oriented development with co-housing, which is resident-led, non-speculative, potentially energy-conscious and needs no private developer, as a pragmatic prototype for at least part of Pune's housing crisis.
