Architect · Urbanist · Pune
Hello, I'm Amar.
I'm interested in why good climate plans so often stall on the way to the street, and in the people, laws and institutions that decide whether they get there.
I work where urban and regional planning, policy and governance meet. My work has taken me from Himalayan highways to Goa's beaches and Panaji's lanes, working alongside city corporations, state departments, regulators, companies, activists and residents.
I trained as an architect in Pune and studied urban management in Berlin, and environmental law along the way. Systems thinking shapes how I approach a problem, and a commitment to climate action and social justice shapes which problems I pick. The questions that keep me busy: who actually makes the city, who gets left out, and how do the rules get bent?
Away from the desk I run, swim, cycle, kayak and paddleboard, and I draw. Some of my illustrations live at amar8822.wixsite.com/artwork.
